He wants you to learn more and more about what it means and what it feels like to love Him. Our emotions are crazy. My mind is a rat’s nest of unbelievable insanity, selfishness and unrighteousness. If I tried to figure it all out and get it all sorted and cleaned up, I’d be in the loony bin by tomorrow. Instead, I just give it to Jesus in honesty and tell Him I need His help to walk with Him in the next step.

There’s your key, right there: Stop trying to fix yourself. Stop trying to sort all this out. Stop trying to ‘be’ straight because that’s what you think you ought to do. Instead of that, love Jesus. Just love Him. Ask Him to help you love Him, and beg Him to give you the wisdom to know what He wants you to do next and the power to do it. You see the difference? It’s not about being straight… it’s about walking with Jesus - doing the next thing He asks of you, one moment at a time, knowing that He is gracious, compassionate and patient.

Teach me to be content

Attitude is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill.

We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have and that is our attitude.
